Gladiolus

About the Gladiolus

Gladiolus is a genus of perennial plants from the iris family (Iridaceae). The plants are sometimes called ‘sword lily’. The botanical name is derived from the Latin word gladius, which means sword. The plant occurs naturally in South Europe, Asia, West Africa and South Africa. Our smaller type of Gladiolus is called Glamini.

Care advice

Glaminis require a lot of light, but especially a lot of water. You may need to water them every day! The pot must never be allowed to dry out. The bulbs are not winter-hardy, so the pots must be stored in a dry and frost-free place during winter. The Glaminis will start to grow again in spring.
